Manage your licence and subscription for Microsoft-365
This article will teach you how to manage your Microsoft 365 subscriptions and licenses. You’ll utilize the Microsoft 365 admin center to create user accounts, manage user rights and access to resources, manage licenses and subscription payments, check service health, and create service requests, among other things.
However, from the Microsoft 365 admin center navigation pane:
- you can access specialist workspaces including,
- SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, Security, Compliance, Device Management, and Azure Active Directory.
Manage licences in Microsoft 365
- You establish user accounts and issue licenses to them in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- You may purchase additional licenses as your organization’s needs evolve, allowing you to accommodate new employees. And, you can also reassign a license to someone else after removing it from one user. (For example, you can transfer a licence to another employee if someone departs your company.)
- This allows you to keep the right amount of licenses for your business without paying for extra licences that aren’t needed (known as “over-licensing”) or running out of licences.
Further, in the admin center, you can also manage expired licenses. If you don’t renew a license or pay late for the most recent payment cycle, the user with the expired license will be unable to utilize all of their Microsoft 365 products. You must either renew the license or assign a separate, valid license to them.
Within a single license for each user, you may also switch on or off access to functionalities like Exchange Online or Microsoft Teams, as well as other services and tools. Deactivating any or all features for a user, however, has no effect on license consumption; these specific options inside the user’s product license are distinct from assigning (or deleting) a license for a user.
Manage billing in Microsoft 365
You can review and modify all billing aspects in the Microsoft 365 admin center, including:
- Firstly, Current number of purchased licenses and how many of those licenses that you’ve allocated to users for each service.
- Secondly, Any current charges due on an account.
- Subsequently, Payment method and frequency (monthly or annual).
- Furthermore, Additional services or features you might opt to add to the subscription. For example, depending on which Microsoft 365 subscription you have, you can add on Advanced eDiscovery Storage or the Dynamics 365 Suite.
- Finally, Billing notifications, where you can provide a list of email accounts of who should receive automated billing notifications and renewal reminders for the Microsoft 365 subscription.
Support options
Here are the different ways and channels to get support for Microsoft 365:
- Firstly, FastTrack. Get direct access to Microsoft 365 planning materials and dedicated Microsoft FastTrack project managers and engineers to help you deploy Microsoft 365.
- Secondly, Support Assistant. The Microsoft 365 admin center has an automated assistance bot, the Support Assistant, that’s designed to help you find answers to support questions. Accessed from the Need help button, the bot offers a chat-based user experience.
Microsoft 365 service level agreements
Microsoft 365 subscriptions, like any other cloud-based service, come with a guarantee of uptime (such as a 99 percent available uptime average over the period of one year). The guarantee varies per cloud service provider and is stated in a formal agreement known as a Service Level Agreement between the cloud service provider and the customer (SLA).

Monitor Microsoft 365 service health
Microsoft regularly analyses the health of Microsoft 365 services to verify that we’re satisfying SLAs. In the Microsoft 365 admin interface, you can also keep track of the health, performance, and availability of your services. Filtering on the list of subscriptions and services also gives a view that is tailored to your needs.
