For Emergency & Security Systems Installer – White with blue stripe
ECS Emergency & Security Systems Installer card has been designed specifically for operatives who hold specialist manufacturer training and/or industry-recognised level 2 qualifications in the installation of emergency and security systems.
Eligibility Criterion for ECS Emergency & Security Systems Installer card
- Must hold accredited manufacturer training in their specialist field and/or a suitable level 2 Emergency and Security System qualification
- Must provide a detailed employer reference, confirming competence in this field
- Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
For Emergency & Security Systems Installer – Level 3 – Gold
ECS Emergency & Security Systems Installer (Level 3) card has been specifically designed for operatives who have industry NVQ level 3 qualification and holds the responsibility for installing, commissioning and maintaining security and emergency systems.
Eligibility Criterion on ECS Emergency & Security Systems Installer (Level 3) card
1. Must meet ONE of the following criteria –
- Must have completed an Approved Apprenticeship in Emergency & Security Systems
- Must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Providing Security, Emergency and Alarm Systems (1882, 2882 or 1866)
- Must have held an Emergency & Security Systems Installer ECS card for at least 5 years and provide a detailed employer reference, confirming their competence in this field
2. Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
For Emergency & Security Systems Maintenance – White with blue stripe
ECS Emergency & Security Systems Maintenance card has been specifically designed for operatives having specialist manufacturer training and/or industry recognised level 2 qualifications in the maintaining of emergency and security systems.
Eligibility Criterion for ECS Emergency & Security Systems Maintenance card
- Must have acquired accredited manufacturer training in their specialist field and/or a suitable Level 2 Emergency and Security System qualification
- Must be able to provide a detailed employer reference, confirming their competence in this field
- Must have a current Health & Safety Certificate or recognised H&S qualification.
For Emergency & Security Systems Maintenance – Level 3 – Gold
ECS Security & Emergency Systems Maintenance (Level 3) card has been specifically designed for skilled operatives having the industry level 3 qualification and are diagnosing, maintaining and repairing security & emergency systems. Some of the typical responsibilities of working professionals unsupervised are-
- Must be able to apply security system specification to physical installation and customer requirements
- Must be able to establish operational feasibility of security and emergency systems
- Must be able to install a complete system; install and test security system equipment which uses data transmission protocols
- Must be able to commission and handover operational security systems
- Must be able to audit installed security and emergency systems
- Must be able to diagnose causes of faults
- Must be able to rectify and restore
- Must be able to apply on-site security and emergency systems installation safety statutes and relevant regulations
Eligibility Criterion ECS Security & Emergency Systems Maintenance (Level 3) card
1. Must meet ONE of the following criteria –
- Must have successfully completed an Approved Apprenticeship in Emergency and Security Systems
- Must have successfully completed the NVQ Level 3 in Providing Security, Emergency and Alarm Systems (1882) or (1866)
- Must have held an ECS Emergency & Security Systems Maintenance white card for at least 5 years and provide a detailed employer reference, confirming their competence in this field

For Emergency & Security Systems Surveyor – Gold
ECS Emergency & Security Systems Surveyor card has been specifically designed for skilled operatives holding industry level 3 qualification and are carrying out site surveys for the installation of emergency and security systems. Some of the typical responsibilities and duties (unsupervised) of working professionals are –
- Must be able to survey and design a security/emergency system
- Must be able to maintain effective working relationships
- Must be able to make plans and arrangements for work on site
- Must be able to prepare a tender/quotation for the provision and maintenance of a basic security/emergency system
- Must be able to negotiate sales
- Must be able to solve problems on behalf of customers
- Must be able to make sales presentations to existing and potential customers
Eligibility Criterion for ECS Emergency & Security Systems Surveyor card
1. Must be able to meet ONE of the following criteria:
- Must have successfully completed an Approved Apprenticeship in Emergency and Security Systems
- Must have successfully completed the NVQ Level 3 in Providing Security, Emergency & Alarm Systems (1882) or (1866)
- Must have held an Emergency & Security Systems Installer or Maintenance unskilled ECS card for at least five years and provide a detailed employer reference, confirming their competence in this field
2. Must have a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
