Data quality for a given scenario

Data quality is of prime importance especially in Email studio.

Maintaining the quality of the data in email studio involves

Email Studio Data Extension

User can be enabled or disabled for following Data Extension

Email Studio provides many Data Types for Data Extensions

Text – includes letters / numbers / spaces, maximum 4000 characters
Number – only whole or integer values
Date – date format supported in various formats but stored in MM/DD/YYYY, stores time also
Boolean – provides true values (1 / Y / Yes / true) and False values (0 / N / No / false)
Email – for storing email address, maximum 254 characters
Phone – for storing phone number, is 15-digit string
Decimal – It is a number with a decimal point
Locale – for locale value of ISO language and country code like EN-US

Options for Data Retention

Delete Options

All Records involves deleting the records but keeping the data extension intact.
Individual Records invovles deleting the individual record but keeping the data extension.
All Records and Data Extension- Both, data extension and all the records inside, are deleted.

Period Options

After – The number of days after which the data extension t o delete, starting from the creation date
Reset period on import – continue the retention date if any import to the data extension.
On – Specific date to delete.

Enablement

Contact Delete enable or disable in the Contact Configuration of Contact Builder and applies as

Enterprise 2.0 accounts and On-Your-Behalf accounts, both mandate deletions but in the parent account and then, it will flow to child accounts.
Deletions are, isolated for
- Lock-and-Publish and Agency accounts
- Agency Client accounts
