Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2)

The Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2) exam is provided by the ICC. The Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2) exam examines a candidate’s abilities to verify the design, installation, and inspections for all commercially installed plumbing systems complete with their fixtures, equipment, appurtenances, and appliances. The Inspector shall also be responsible to verify the installation, design, and inspections for all stormwater systems, special waste systems, and all non-flammable medical and non-medical oxygen piping systems and compliance with the 2015 International Plumbing Code and the standards of the local jurisdiction.

Duties of Commercial Plumbing Inspector

Responsibilities and duties shall include but not be limited to the verification of the following:

• proper pipe sizing, installation, design, and testing for the DWV system, potable and nonpotable water supply and storage systems;
• the installation of all fixtures, appurtenances, and appliances;
• the installation of all regulated safety devices, water heater installation, and appurtenances;
• the installation, design, and protection of all specialty fixture that serve special functions and the connections to the DWV and water supply
  systems;
• the design, pipe sizing, and testing for the storm drainage system;
• the design, installation of all special piping and storage systems for non-flammable medical gases and non-medical oxygen systems;
• and that all permitting, documentation, and approved drawings have been filed and completed.

Exam Details

The Commercial Plumbing Inspector exam has an exam ID: P2. The exam is an Open Book Exam. The candidate will be given 2 hours to successfully complete the exam. Also, there will be 50 questions. The Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2) exam method will be Computer-Based Testing( CBT ) and Proctored Online Testing. The ICC examination fee will be $219 USD. The candidate can register for the exam on the ICC website as well as at Pearson VUE.

Before Taking the Certification exam, here are some registration tips that you should follow:

• Firstly, the candidate must log in to myICC to make an exam purchase. If they already have an account, please contact ICC before creating a new one to ensure all of their information stays in one account.
• The candidate is required to pay for the exam first before they schedule if they are taking a National Certification, California, or UST/AST exam via CBT or PRONTO. Moreover, they have one year to schedule or reschedule the exam without paying for it again.
• Also, please enter the Legal name only exactly as it appears on the identification you will carry before testing. Entering wrong details will not let you take your test and no fees will be refunded.
• Lastly, you must have your government-issued photo identification ready to show the proctor.

Exam Policies

Results for examinations taken online or at a testing site are available immediately after completion of the examination. For National and UST/AST Certification Exams, The candidate will have six exam attempts within a six-month period. They are responsible for paying the exam fee at every attempt. Once they have attempted an exam six times, they must wait six months from the first attempt to register again.
