Exam Details
The Certified Protection Professional (CPPⓇ) Exam is administered by ASIS. The exam has 225 multiple-choice questions: 200 “live,” scorable questions, and up to 25 pre-test questions. The candidate will be given 4 hours to complete the Certified Protection Professional (CPPⓇ) exam. The candidate can register the exam at the HERE. The fee for the Certified Protection Professional (CPPⓇ) exam is $335 for ASIS members, $485 for nonmembers, and the retake fee is $225.
Eligibility
Nine (9) years of security experience*, at least three (3) years of which shall have been in responsible charge* of a security function
OR
Earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education and have seven (7) years of security experience*, at least three (3) years of which shall have been in responsible charge* of a security function.
AND
- Have been employed full-time in a security-related role
- Not have been convicted of any criminal offense that would reflect negatively on the security profession, ASIS, or the certification program.
Retaking the Exam
You may take the exam up to three times during your two-year eligibility year. There must be 90 days between each attempt. The fee to retake the exam is $225 for CPP, PCI, and PSP. The retake fee for APP is $150.
If you fail the exam three times in your two-year eligibility period, you must reapply and pay the full fee.
