What is Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) Exam?

The Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) is a skilled professional dedicated to upholding high-quality standards across every phase of a construction project. What is the CCQM Exam Requirement?

  • 8 Years: Candidates must have at least eight years of practical experience in one or more areas covered by the Construction Quality Manager Certification Body of Knowledge.
  • 3 Years: At least three of these years must be in a “decision-making” role.
    • A “decision-making” role involves authority over defining, executing, or managing projects/processes and being accountable for outcomes. This may include, but is not limited to, supervisory or managerial roles.

Candidates should have held full-time, paid positions. Up to one year of experience may come from internships or apprenticeships.

What education should I take for the Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) Exam?

Candidates with formal education from a college, university, or technical school may be eligible for a reduction in the eight-year experience requirement, as follows (only one reduction can be applied):

  • Technical or trade school diploma — one year reduction
  • Associate degree — two years reduction
  • Bachelor’s degree — four years reduction
  • Master’s or doctoral degree — five years reduction

How many questions will be there in the exam?

The CCQM Computer-Based Exam is a single-section test with 165 multiple-choice questions available only in English. Of these, 150 questions are scored, while 15 are unscored.

What is the Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) Exam time duration?

The total appointment time is four and a half hours, with an exam duration of 4 hours and 18 minutes.

What Happens if I Pass or Fail?

  • PASS: If you take the exam via computer-based testing (CBT), you will receive your results immediately upon submitting the exam. An email confirming your results will be sent within 3-5 business days. Additionally, ASQ will send you a separate email with instructions on how to claim your digital certificate and badge through the Accredible platform.
  • FAIL: If you do not pass your CBT exam, you will receive an email summary of your performance within 3-5 business days following your test. For the next two years after your attempt, you can reapply at a significantly reduced “retake rate.”

What is the application process and timeline for the Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) exam?

  1. Submit Your Application:
    • The review period for online applications typically takes 1-2 business days, while hardcopy applications may take 3-5 business days.
  2. ASQ Review:
    • Once ASQ has completed its review, you will either receive an approval notification via email or a “hold” message indicating that additional information is required for your application to be processed. If it’s determined that you do not meet the exam requirements, you will be refunded, minus a $130 processing fee.
  3. Testing Options:
    • Computer-Based Testing (CBT):
      • Within 1-2 business days after receiving your approval notification, you will get an eligibility email with instructions on scheduling your exam with Prometric, our testing provider.
    • Paper-Based Testing (PBT):
      • For those who registered for a paper-based or translated exam, you will not receive an eligibility email. Instead, you will get a seating letter about two weeks before your exam, detailing the date, time, and location.
  4. Schedule Your Exam with Prometric:
    • You can schedule your exam appointment within the testing window you selected when submitting your application.
