BCABA Exam : FAQ’s
What is BCABA Exam?
The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is an undergraduate-level certification in behavior analysis. Professionals certified at the BCaBA level provide behavior-analytic services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). They may not provide behavior-analytic services without the supervision of a BCBA, however they may supervise the work of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
What is the pre-requisite to the exam BCABA?
The pre-requisite examination for BCABA is Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Exam. RBT is a high-school level paraprofessional, certified in behavior analysis. Before BCABA, you are supposed to get RBT Certified.
Which edition should I refer to prepare for BCABA exam?
If you plan to give the exam before 2022, you’re supposed to refer to the 4th edition.
And if you plan to apply for the exam after 2022, then you’re supposed to refer the 5th edition.
What is the total number of questions in the exam?
You will find 140 questions in the exam out of which 10 are unscored pilot items.
What is the duration of the exam?
You will get 4 hours of time to attempt the exam.
What is the format of the exam?
The exam is computer-based and you are supposed to answer 140 multiple choice questions.
What is the fees of the exam?
You will have to pay $125 every time you book for the exam.
What if I fail the exam?
You may retake the examination for a maximum of 8 total attempts within a 2-year period following your initial examination approval. You must pay a $120 retake application fee and a $125 examination appointment fee each time you retake the examination. You’ll have to wait for 30 days to retake the examination following your previous attempt.
What should I do if my certification expire?
As a BCaBA, you are required to submit a recertification application (including payment) every two years. Recertification applications are available in your BACB account within 45 days of your recertification date & as soon as you have entered your required CEUs. You must complete your recertification application on or before your recertification date to avoid lapses in your certification and late fees.
