Top Zend Certified PHP Engineer FAQ

1. How hard is Zend PHP certification?

Getting certified as a Zend PHP Engineer is nearly hard if you don’t have enough practical experience. It is usually simpler to learn by doing, and you may study PHP in this manner if you want to pass the Zend Certified PHP Engineer exam. You merely need to examine how many PHP developers pass the exam each year.

2. Do I need to know anything (other than PHP) for the PHP certification exam to pass?

Simply put, you need to know those tools, including databases and regular expressions, that a PHP developer uses in his/her day-to-day work. As far as the latter is concerned, the emphasis is on regular Perl expressions, while the focus is on standard SQL for databases, rather than any specific implementation. If you have mastered databases solely by using MySQL, it is highly urged that you look into regular SQL, since in some important respects MySQL diverges from it.

3. On what version is the PHP exam based?

The PHP exam is based on the PHP 200-710. version. When preparing for the exam, test takers should review this edition.

4. What are the exams like?

The analysis itself is very close to any other IT examinations that have been given these days. Using a specially designed computer, the exam is taken in an isolated room. The exam is closed-book, so when taking it, you won’t be able to consult any reference material or use the Internet.

5. How many questions will be there on the exam?

There are a total of 75 questions in the PHP test, and the Zend Application Exam consists of 70 questions, which must be answered within 90 minutes. In one of three ways, each query can be formulated:

  • As a multiple-choice question with one correct answer only.
  • As a multiple-choice question with different correct responses.
  • Lastly, as a free-form question for which it is appropriate to type the answer in.
6. Where do I take the exam?

There are two options available

  • You can go to a testing centre for Pearson VUE, which is available in more than 4700 locations around the world. To schedule an inspection date / time, contact your nearest testing centre. Online or by calling your local centre, you can enrol.
  • In most situations, you have the option of taking the test at home as well. OnVUE online proctored exams allow you to easily take an exam while being supervised by an offsite proctor in the comfort of your home or office. Before selecting this option, we recommend that you run a device test to make sure this option can be used.
    • Please note that the second option (home test) is only available in English and cannot be taken at the following locations: Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Slovenia, Japan, South Korea, China, *Syrian Arab Republic, *Syrian Arab Republic, * (Syria).
7. What topics/subjects does the PHP exam cover?

The exam was designed to test PHP expertise from a realistic point of view. The vast majority of the questions are focused on the ability to evaluate and analyze a snippet of code, though there are a few theoretical objects.

8. Why the SQL standard?

In order to work with more than one DBMS, a PHP developer should know about proper database design, and so that the developer using, say, Oracle or PostgreSQL is not at a disadvantage—a PHP exam, not a LAMP one, after all.

9. What should I take to the exam?

Don’t forget to take 2 forms of identification with you to the testing centre on the day of the examination—testing employees must check your identity.
