A MuleSoft Certified Developer – Level 1 should be able to successfully work on basic Mule 4 projects with guidance and supervision. The MCD – Level 1 (Mule 4) exam validates that a developer has the required knowledge and skills to design, build, test and debug, deploy, and manage basic APIs and integrations: moving from Anypoint Platform to Anypoint Studio and back.
Exam Validity
The certification expires two years from the date you pass the exam. To extend the certification validity after this date, you can take the MuleSoft Certified Developer – Level 1 (Mule 4) MAINTENANCE exam.

How long will my exam remain in my learner dashboard?
Exams will now only be available to the learner for six (6) months after purchase. A learner will only be able to schedule the exam within six (6) months of purchase. Purchase includes the following events:
- Purchasing the exam with a credit card or Flexible Training Credits (FTC)
- Earning the exam through completing a course
- Being granted the exam through a special offer
Whether a learner has purchased the exam separately or is automatically enrolled following a training course, certification exams must be scheduled and completed within six (6) months of arrival in the learner's dashboard.
When do MuleSoft Certifications expire?
MuleSoft Certifications on https://training.mulesoft.com/certification are valid for a period of two (2) years from the date of issue.
Certification Maintenance exams are available for the following MuleSoft Certification renewals:
- MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 1 (Mule 4)
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect - Level 1
Eligibility is determined by a passing score on the exam present in the learner profile. MuleSoft recommends candidates take the Certification Maintenance exam within the final three months before their current certification expires. The Certification will be renewed for two (2) years from the date of Certification Maintenance exam pass.
How do I schedule and take my exam?
You will need to login to your learner account, purchase the certification exam if not already enrolled from a MuleSoft Training course, prepare for the exam, schedule, and then take the certification exam.
How do I reschedule or cancel an exam?
- Log in to your account at training.mulesoft.com. Click on Dashboard from the top menu.
- Under Enrollments, click into Certification Exams. Locate the exam you would like to reschedule.
- To Reschedule your exam, click the BLUE calendar icon next to the name of the exam, and select a new date and time.
- If you need to cancel your scheduled exam, locate the exam you would like to cancel, then click the RED calendar icon with an “x” inside of it, next to the name of the exam. You can come back to Reschedule your exam at a later time.
I missed my scheduled exam, what should I do?
- From your learner dashboard, you will be able to reschedule the exam 24 hours after your missed session.
- If you did not attend your exam at the scheduled date and time, you will forfeit one of your five attempts. You will need to repurchase the exam if it will be your third, fourth, or fifth attempt.
Do I have to give remote access to the proctor during the exam?
Yes, as this is an exam security requirement to ensure the integrity of our exams. The online proctor accesses your computer just as your company’s technical support does when you request computer assistance.
How do I access exam results?
Once you have completed the exam, you can view your exam results on your training.mulesoft.com account.
- Log in to your MuleSoft Training account.
- Click on the Person icon and select My Learnings from the drop down menu.
- Scroll down the page until you see the section My Completions which contains a list of your completed MuleSoft Training courses and Certification Exams. Select Test History.
- In the Test History page, you can view the different MuleSoft training courses you have taken and any Certification Exam attempts with the overall scores.
When is my exam certificate available and how do I download?
Your Certification Exam certificate should be available within approximately ten business days of passing the exam. A status of Print Certificate will display under the corresponding completed training course for that exam, or under Completed Exams if you passed the exam without attending the training course.
What is the format of the Certification Maintenance exams?
The exams are proctored, 45 minutes, 25 questions. Passing score is 70%. Two attempts at the maintenance exam are allowed, then if not passed, the test-taker must take the full 58 or 60-question certification exam.
How are the scores calculated for the Certification exam results?
In order to keep our exams secure, MuleSoft provides a PASS/FAIL, and the percentage score from each exam section. While the score is based on total questions answered correctly, we do not share the total number of questions answered correctly or incorrectly. Since exam questions are weighted differently, calculating your exam passing score based on the average topic score is not equal to the overall final exam passing score.
How long is the maintenance exam valid?
The recertification is valid for two years from the date the recertify exam is passed.
What languages are the maintenance exams?
English and Japanese (MCD only)
What are the prerequisites for the maintenance exams?
You must already hold the certification for the relevant following exams:
- MuleSoft Certified Developer - Level 1 (Mule 4)
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect - Level 1
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect - Level 1
Eligibility is determined by a passing score on the corresponding certification exam present in the Learner profile. This is new functionality available later this month.
