JNCIE-DC (JPR-981) Practice Exam
About JNCIE-DC (JPR-981) Exam
The JNCIE-DC certification exam represents the highest level of expertise within Juniper's Data Center track, offering professionals the opportunity to validate their advanced skills in data center technologies, configuration, and troubleshooting. Achieving this certification demonstrates mastery of Junos-based platforms and the ability to manage complex data center environments.
Skills Acquired
The JNCIE-DC (JPR-981) Exam has been designed to test your ability to deploy, configure, manage, and troubleshoot a data center network built using multiple MX Series and QFX Series devices. Candidates will be tasked with system configuration on all devices, including management capabilities, Clos IP fabric setup, EVPN/VXVLAN implementation, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and Class of Service (CoS) features.
Course Outline
The JNCIE-DC (JPR-981) Exam covers the following topics -
Domain 1. Layer 3 Underlay
1.1 Controllerless Data Center:
- Build, deploy, and troubleshoot an IP fabric.
- Configure routing policies to advertise only necessary addresses.
- Utilize all available links to optimize traffic forwarding.
1.2 Juniper Apstra-Managed Data Center:
- Build, deploy, and troubleshoot an IP fabric.
- Implement routing policies to restrict unnecessary address advertisements.
- Create and apply custom tags.
- Restrict all fabric configurations to Apstra.
- Maximize link utilization for efficient traffic forwarding.
Domain 2. Overlay
2.1 Controllerless Data Center:
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot EBGP- or IBGP-signaled EVPN-VXLAN overlays.
- Facilitate communication between multihomed and single-homed end devices.
- Create distinct Layer 2 and Layer 3 tenant environments.
- Enable inter-tenant Layer 3 routing.
- Configure and optimize multicast communication.
2.2 Apstra-Managed Data Center:
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot EBGP-signaled EVPN-VXLAN overlays.
- Ensure connectivity between multihomed and single-homed end devices.
- Establish separate Layer 3 tenant environments.
- Configure routing between Layer 3 tenants for seamless connectivity.
Domain 3. Data Center Interconnect (DCI)
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot DCI solutions between a Juniper Apstra-managed data center and a controllerless data center using EVPN Type 2 or Type 5 routes to facilitate tenant communication without Apstra configlets.
- Implement DCI between two controllerless data centers using seamless VXLAN-to-VXLAN stitching for tenant communication.
- Interpret VXLAN Virtual Network Identifier (VNI) data from unmanaged, preconfigured peer devices.
Domain 4. Security
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot security features to safeguard data center infrastructure and edge devices.
- Restrict access to devices from unauthorized protocols and networks.
- Monitor and log high-traffic events for proactive management.
- Track spanning-tree messages and respond according to defined security protocols.
Domain 5. Class of Service (CoS)
- Configure and troubleshoot CoS settings for server traffic connected to leaf nodes to optimize performance and prioritization.
Domain 6. Management
- Use tags and probes to monitor critical services and trigger Apstra anomalies when defined conditions are met.
- Create and utilize custom Apstra configlets for advanced configuration.
- Enable subsecond link failure detection with Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) between leaf and external devices.
- Configure date and time synchronization across devices.
- Set up local and remote system logging for better visibility.
- Enable streaming telemetry using custom ports for detailed insights.
- Leverage SNMP monitoring to track data center performance effectively.
